LABOR DAY PRAYER
9/5/2010
Yo u framed the law of labor for the Human Race. Dear God, may we do the work you provide us and earn the reward you promise. At this time, dear God, many of our people are out of work and finding it so very difficult to sustain themselves and their loved ones. So many of our country’s leaders have been shunning you; please overlook these faults and let our citizens find employment. Still, dear God, help us return to where you were an integral and an important part of our lives and culture. Gracious heavenly Father, as the United States pauses to contemplate the freedom to work and the employment opportunities that are available to us, may we never lose sight of the fact that it is only because of your grace and favor that we are able to work. Thank you, God, for the blessings of employment and work that I have had in the past and at present. May all that I do at work give glory to you. AMEN
A POEM BY ST.PATRICK
8/29/2010
Written by St. Patrick in 377 A.D.
I arise today
Through the strength of heaven;
Light of the sun, Splendor of fire,
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of the wind,
Depth of the sea,
Stability of the earth,
Firmness of the rock.
I arise today
Through God’s strength to pilot me;
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s hosts to save me
From snares of the devil,
From temptations of vices,
From every one who desires me ill,
Afar and anear,
Alone or in a multitude. Amen
